Doctor Leonard McCoy is many things - ornery, brash, opinionated, a Doctor, but he most certainly is not someone to be messed around with. He's got his fair share of problems, but that doesn't stop him from fixing everyone else up while they're aboard the USS Enterprise - or if you're Jim Kirk and need constant haranguing. Space might not be his favorite frontier, McCoy had nowhere else to go after his ex-wife took his home, practice, and daughter. He makes due when he can but does not compromise if he isn't up shit creek without a proverbial paddle and with no other option.
